The idea of this project is to promote local purchasing of food to lessen the toxic emissions to the environment from shipping produce items overseas and nationwide. It is an informative how to guide on purchasing local foods and the benefits to the consumer as well as the environment.

Business Card and Stationary Mock ups
I've been playing around with business card and stationary designs. This is design is what I am leaning towards for my final. I would like to get these and my portfolio out before the end of the holiday season. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Happy Thanksgiving!
It may be a little past Thanksgiving, but seeing as many of us are still snacking on our leftovers I figured I still had sometime to wish all of you a happy Thanksgiving. I was on vimeo today looking up animated videos and found this nbc cartoon for Thanksgiving. I hope it gives you a smile during this crazy holiday season.

For those of you who are interested in making of animated films. I also found this on vimeo which is a speed walk through of an animated commercial from concept to final.

Have a great holiday weekend.

Let's talk bad dates.
I am working on a new blog/ side project. The aim is to collect stories about horribly funny encounters of bad pick-up lines, awkward dating moments, and just plain uncomfortable situations. All of these stories will remain anonymous which means fake names are encouraged to be used before sending me your story. The blog will be updated weekly with a new story and illustration(s).
Send the stories directly to me by my email: ashleynicolemiles@gmail.com
The blog will most likely go up by late December - early January, which everyone will of course be alerted of.
Look forward to reading your entries!

Rubert, rough.
As a promised before with my character sketches (3 entries down) here is an update of one of my characters. It's still in progress, but this a rough black and white value study for my character "Rubert." First time working in Corel Painter - needless to say it took sometime getting used to. I had so much fun though with him. Look forward to seeing where Rubert ends up!

oywee.
it was a beautiful weekend. hope everyone got to enjoy the great outdoors while we still have this beautiful weather. i didn't get too do much sketching over the weekend. however today i did a few quick sketches and value studies with colored pencil for a creature concept project. below are so far some of the little buggies i've drawn up in the past hour.
the quality is pretty bad but you get the idea. i plan on doing this digitally in flat color. none of the creatures will consist of more than 4 colors (this includes values). i'll upload the final versions of these as they come.
